I'm excited to tell you that Ork Games has been updated with many new features and improvements! You will notice some of these updates easily, such as the bar on the bottom of every screen.
This "footer bar" is customizable and has many great features including:
- Change (and save) the colors of the footer bar
- Live Chat (new and improved!) - note: chat goes top-bottom now in order of new-old messages
- Who's Online (including Currently Played Games)
- Forum Links
- Recent News
- Latest Poll
- Mail Links
- Friends Links
- Fav Games Links
- Inventory (Items)
Besides the footer bar, there are many other updates as well including:
- New "Wider" Look - I also removed the expandable right menu (the footer bar has replaced it)
- High Scores - we now accept high scores from the Mochi Scores API - we now automatically record high scores from any game which includes one of these leaderboards!
- Challenges - you can now challenge your friends to beat your high scores! You can also select a challenge level which will determine the prize for winning the challenge. For more information regarding challenges, please refer to the Help/FAQ section of this website.
- Medals - game authors can now add medals to their games which players can earn through meeting the author's specified requirements for achieving the medals - for the time being, this is limited to high scores achievements through the Mochi Scores API.
- Coins - an exclusive currency that can be earned and used within Ork Games. NOTE: you do not have to pay any real money for these coins... I currently have no plans to allow for real money to be traded in for these coins.
- Related Games - only displayed if there appears to be any related games for the game you are viewing.
- Charts - here you can view the top ranked games, orks, etc.
- New Forum - a brand new fully integrated forum - go check it out!
- Improved Search Results - each keyword is not treated seperately, allowing for better accuracy and results. You can also search the new forum based on topic titles and posts.
- New "Results With" Option - this allows you to browse games specifically with comments/ratings/favs received, high scores or medals.
- Added "Last Updated" date/time display for forum posts and comments where they have been edited after being added initially. This should help prevent confusion caused by updated forum posts and comments.
- "View Gallery" option for the viewing and selection of pre-made images for Avatars, Banners, Medals, etc.
- New Popularity rankings under "Details" on each game page.
- Your avatar is now displayed in the top right corner of the page when logged in. It links to the "Edit Avatar" page.
- Also some other featurse and improvements which I can't quite remember... there are just too many things updated really
Some future stuff to be added:
- New "Explore" Feature - have fun exploring around the unnamed world, buy/rent houses, stores, orkclans, advertise on billboards and more - secrets included!
- Lots of items to use in various ways.
- Redeemable codes given out, and characters who you can "interact" with on the site.
I have also fixed some bugs including:
- Reloading of Security Check Image
- The BBCode selection buttons now work properly in Internet Explorer web browsers
- Several small misc. bugs
Furthermore... to celebrate the release of this massive expansion to the Ork Games website, we're changing the maximum achievable ork level from 10 to 20! We're also giving away free bonus coins to all current existing orks!
